About Weton & Neptu
Weton comes from ancient Javanese tradition and is the combination of days of the week (Monday–Sunday) with Javanese market days: Legi, Pahing, Pon, Wage, and Kliwon. The weton cycle repeats every 35 days (7 × 5).
Each day and market day has a numeric value called neptu. By summing the weton neptu of the couple, Javanese elders can determine whether a chosen wedding date is compatible or not.
